ℹ Important Note

**Prominent Disclaimer:** These admission rank estimates are unofficial and based on observations from previous C-DAC admission batches. They are not official closing ranks or guaranteed admission predictions. Actual admissions vary by course, centre, counselling round, seat availability, and candidate preferences.

Why Marks and Ranks Vary Between Sessions

C-CAT ranks are calculated on a relative competitive scale across all candidates who write the test in a given session. A raw score that achieves Rank 300 in one batch might result in a different rank in another session due to several factors:

  1. Relative Question Difficulty: Variance in question complexity across examination shifts influences overall score distributions.
  2. Applicant Pool Performance: When a batch exhibits higher overall scores in Section B, the score required to achieve a top percentile rises accordingly.
  3. Category Size: The number of candidates competing in Category II (Sections A+B) versus Category III (Sections A+B+C) directly affects percentile spacing.
  4. Tie-Breaker Rules: Candidates with identical aggregate marks are ranked based on their Section A score, meaning two candidates with identical total marks can receive noticeably different ranks.

Observed Score and Rank Benchmarks

Because C-DAC evaluates relative performance, individual score-to-rank outcomes cannot be predicted with mathematical certainty. However, based on experience with previous C-CAT batches:

Note

**Owner Observation:** A candidate scoring approximately **40–42 marks out of 50 in Section A** and **40–42 marks out of 50 in Section B** (a combined score of approximately **80–84 out of 100**) has been observed to achieve a rank **under 200**.

Note: This is an anecdotal observation from past admission cycles, not an official conversion table or guaranteed prediction. Outcomes vary by admission session and course category.

Other Regional Admission Observations

Beyond Pune, candidates frequently consider institutes across other major technology hubs. Broad regional observations include:

  • Mumbai Region: Indicative admission ranks broadly range between 1,200 – 4,000 depending on the specific centre and round. Candidates often consider VITA (Wadala) and C-DAC Kharghar as leading regional options. (Note: This is an editorial observation from student feedback, not an official ranking.)
  • Bangalore Region: Indicative admission ranks typically span 2,500 – 4,000 across early counselling rounds.
  • Hyderabad Region: Indicative admission ranks observed around 3,500.
Note

[!TIP] Always list your true preference order during C-CAT counselling. Even if your rank appears higher than indicative ranges, seat availability during Round 2 or second counselling can open opportunities at preferred centres.
